I didn't read my comments so here is the answer three monthes later. A, I wanted them to chop down a tree in the front of the church that just spreads seeds and B ,I wanted them to produce a budget.
Today I learned how to make a fringe for my rug. Well not exactly a fringe but pile one could say. Not too much progress inch wise but it was a neat thing to do.
I have depicted the prairie grass, the river, the spreading cottonwood, several unidentified objects laying about and now I am on to the canola field and finally the buffalo jump.
The sky will be a stunning combination of setting sun and dark clouds in the distance.

I am up a little later than usual. Starting at 6 instead of 5 something. Nice fire to start the day has given me that smoky scent. The minister wants the church to be scent free as she has is allergic.
I was shot down on two of my ideas at the annual meeting but they are looking in to producing a budget fo 2010, mostly because other people are also in favor of that idea.

It's Sat morning and I should be at the things I want to do. Computers are somewhat like good books or soap operas- they stimulate but don't create. The hockey game was great fun last night. The home team got 8 and the others got Less. I was tired after painting or trying to paint the small space between wall and ceiling for the fussy volunteer painter of the choir room. It would help if I didn't need to move a 8 foot ladder around. I may or may not get called to finish, I may or may not care.
Then there was the funeral lunch to help with and of course some visiting. Meanwhile the snow is melting.

Beautiful day here today. This snow is melting. The crik is rising. My typing has not improved in the last year. I'm reading Harlot by the side of the road and doing as little house work as possibe. Do they have dust police?
I don't think I want to see Paschendale {sp?} I think maybe some of my relatives were there.
Great service today. Inspirational sermon and wonderful music. Baptism of Jesus sunday. God gives everyone a chance. Readers Digest has a good children's Bible.

Just back from the curling banquet-Yummy roast beef and an equally yummy spicecake for dessert iced and filled with cream of some kind. I did well on the sewing today only I just now read the 1/4" seam allowances and I have already finished one pair of PJs. Whoops.
I like sewing at least you have something to show for your time and it is good exercise for the brain.
I'm also hoping to do more piano playing this winter possibly with the proper notes, fingering and time. Now that would be a brain tease.
Don't freeeze out there in cyber land.

Here I am after many weeks absence.Returned home, seen everyone, talked a lot, got a cold and actually did some work. Today I curled back to my usual mid season form - that- is very poorly-just in time for the bonspiel.
They did give me the flu shot today after much discussing. No one seemed to know for sure. Just give her a call if I feel yucky hmmm.
We are skirting the Santa Claus parade and hopeing to get to choir practise on time, although Marilyn is riding the C in Bloom float so why worry.
The air is definitely Fall like.

Well we blew that pile of spuds and did the confederation bridge thing. Very impressive.
Then an Acadian village in the rain gave us a feeling of the beginning of --What did they say??
The international language of music was good.
Quebec and Montreal lived up to their billing and I must say everyone was very gracious with our lack of language skills.
I like watching people on the public transit in Montreal. They weren't the tourists but the real deal.
Now we face the great north of Ontario, a few trees and a few lakes.

A Perfect Day!!

The half moon is presiding over the setting sun with the trees in silhouette. We have had the perfect day. The rejuvenated truck brought us here to Cavendish, [the former fictional home of waif, Anne] and now mega touristville.
On the way we stopped at Hunter's River and rode the Confederation Trail on our bikes, both directions from our parked trailer, for a total of about 40 kms. Along the way we saw the trees and the fields of corn, oats, barley, spuds and hay. Tom said it was just a new way to see the trees! I especially liked the part with the trees meeting overhead and the wild blackberries were a bonus.
Then for supper we went back to New Glasgow to the hall for lobster supper. Complete with chowder, mussels, salad and blueberry pie for dessert, it was quite the feast.

Here we are in the seat of Confederation- by necessity not design. Tom has decided that the truck is not working properly so we are here to find a smart mechanic tomorrow. We did walk past a Dodge dealership today on our trek on the Confederation Trail so that is a bonus. Hopefully it is just some ,not so good deisel, as we did see a sign advertising "clean deisel".
The ferry trip off the rock took many,many hours, from 9 am to 1:30 am to be exact. I saw Shreck 3 with the kids for $5 and at least three other movies in the free area as well as sleeping and eating and listening to some Newfie music. The wind wanted us to stay in Newfoundland!
In contrast the ferry to PEI was a mere hour and a few minutes. This ferry was free, apparently you pay to get off the Island.

Yesterday we stood on Cape Spear [ furthest point east in North America] and peered out into the fog--nothing there!!
Then we went to walk on Signal Hill and filled our tummies with blue---berries and our souls with the awesome scene.
Today we prepare for our morrows departure from the Rock!! You were all you were built up to be!!

Today we went down into a iron ore mine shut up for 50 years because of ore quality not sufficient to make it viable. We walked down an incline to a 600 foot depth under the water of Conception Bay. It wasn't as spooky as I thought it might be because of lights etc. She did shut the light off a one point but it was not as absolutely dark as the Carasbad caverens.
They took 70 millions tons of ore out of the ground, using their backs and horses and kids as young as 10 and now they are using what is left to hold down a few jobs so that some people can work at home and not travel the ferry etc to St John's like their 500 neighbors.

The internet is available again !! Today we went to Signal Hill in St. John's and as Tom had noticed the Tatoo was preforming for the last time this year. It is made up of highschool kids who train as soldiers of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment of Foot of 1795. Since it was the final tatoo of the season the Lieutenant Governor was there to do the honours. They marched, they played the Pipe and Drum and they had a mock battle. Lots of loud noises and gun smoke.
We are here in the most easterly, the windiest, the wetest, the area with the most snow,etc, etc part of the country for two days and then onto the ferry and homeward bound. Hopefully more sights to come.

Water and wild Strawberries!!

The two entities may seem unrelated but really they have been the flavor of our life for several days. The strawberries are self explanatory and self serving-- beside the path for the picking.
The water comes and goes --100 billions gals in 6 hours. You really, really can walk on the ocean floor and mere hours later return to see again the deep blue sea where your feet had trod.
Today the water comes from heaven above--the orchids like it!!

Here I am in the am[6] doing the hunt and peck because sleep alludes me. i hadn't read the coments on my last blog until this morning. No I didn't find our long lost relatives. The closest I came was to asking people if they knew any Andersons. Of course even when they did that was pretty much the end of it. However we had our anniversary picnic in an area that someone had mentioned[Providence Bay] and I could feel the vibes --hmmm!
Did I tell you about the Fish supper we attended put on by the St Andrews by the Bay United Church. We went people watching at the Ferry to kill some time because when we first went to the park only the cooks were there. Came back and the lineup stretched out of the table area onto the grass. However we did get fish and it as very good. Not sure how they made money buying all the salads etc for the supper but the money ladies seemed happy and said they had a turkey supper as well. Their church was one of many UC buildings[stone] we saw in Ont that were steeped in history and still going by the looks of their exteriors. A lot of women ministers' names on the signs.
Today we go to see the big tide in the Bay of Fundy.
The trip has been all that I hoped for so far.

Here we are back on the electric circuit! Not my role to question why or how just to accept. A very nice day today even if it did start out rainy. We were in Fort Francis by Rainy lake and it lived up to it's name. Firsts and lasts for the trip, Robbyn's donuts, pricey at 80 cents a piece and a camping spot barely off the railway track with fairly frequent trains and a few sidings to hoot about. The orchids are well and so are we!!

We were going up and it was coming down. A deer thankfully -- not a bear. The Trail Boss is changing a tire., also thankfully in a safe place. The weather is great, the road bumpy but OK and the scenery fabulous. The songbirds of spring are still here serenading us-although right now I only hear a crow.
The little red squirrel came right to my feet and the elk wander free. They are a lovely chocolate brown with kicking long legs.

I think that it is the St. Andrews' cross. White diagonal with red inside the rectangle. Since that doesn't make much sense just say it is the pattern of the flowers[red and white petunias] that we planted in the Star Tech bed tonight for the Communities in Bloom's efforts at beautifying Brooks. As someone said we may not get to ever see it at its' best but this part was fun.

It was one of those great days that can be had sometimes without too much trying. A little work for the common good. A little talk and laughter- "one choir member moans at the last practice that it is just too hard to sing this this F and G ."-- slur it alittle!! A little walk and talk with some tea for good measure.
But most of all God's wonderful world of blossom and bees and birds at full throttle.

The day began in someone else's throw-a-ways and ended in tea with friends and a steak for supper.
The birds are back and singing. The mud is receding and the grass grows green. I've almost undone what I done before and will soon have a sweater in a bag ready for future reference.
Perchance we will soon have the digital lifestlye which will enable me to share the plum tree.
Tomorrow I go with my friends to the head cover to see the knee Dr for one and shop for us all.

I phoned an old friend to get motivated on spring cleaning. She however tells me that she no longer cleans in spring. Except of course for the things she does clean. Ah well it was always up to me in the end -- I made two pizzas with the dough as per the bread maker recipe. They were meat lovers. Used the hamburger that I pre cooked and the rest of the sausage stick- good but dry. I am attempting to use up the food in the deepfreeze in the frig as well as in the basement. The plum trees have oddles of blossoms baring frost. We however may not be here at the right time any way.
Terrible about the shootings in the States. Apparently the Canadian police did the right thing by storming the gunman and killing him that time in Montreal before he could do more. God be with all those involved.

I'm taking it as a good day for a birthday because as a waited for my breakfast to cook the sun rose in all it's splender. The chinook winds were blowing and boiling the clouds and the sun colored them from red to pink to orange. It looked like liquid fire turned to pink frosting to a happy orange. Anyone celebrating on a glorious today such as today must be truely blessed. God be with you all.

The lenten bible study we are doing at the church is quite good. The UC produced a series of discussions with scholars of enlightened thinking that are questioning mostly the right wing approach to religion. However the background they bring from reformed southern baptist to jew is very informative. Last night they talked about the parables. Jesus was really quite a revolutionary and from the good samaritan to the leaven he was forcing people to think outside the box and was of course very political in his thinking. The notion that God could be corrupted by anything which corrupts man gives us a sense of God in everything, total acceptance. Original sin was brought up and it seemed that most people are not no longer believers in original sin.

Southern Mini They came, they talked, they ate, they went home. It was my Valentines Tea instead of Christmas but couldn't have been much more of a bitter and blustery day. The fire in the fire place felt nice.
I didn't have as diverse a guest list as usual and Tom reminded me I do see these Thrift ladies quite often especially this Sale week. However put them in a different setting and sit them beside someone not of their own choosing. We had an art showing of Mrs Baxter's paintings she has done for me 23 years ago. One of me approaching Tom for a peck on the cheek, one of the strawberries blossoms in the mountains and one of the corral by the Nichi Valley that I had her do for Dad. It was a nice time [and the Cracker Jack popcorn was a hit too].

The letters were ones I has saved that were written to us in93/94. They were filled with what people were feeling at that time and how they were trying to help. It shows the value of hanging on to stuff.

I'm loosing my brain. Can't remeber anything anymore. Where I parked the car at the hospital, what I did with Carla's pictures. However!!
We did the dye thing! Well Tom, Marian amd Doris did most of the work and I packed pails of nuts etc, cleaned containers and made lunch. The wool is now a lovely brown, reddish brown and lighter reddish brown. Doris seemed very pleased and she is the Gru[sp?]
Next step is to wind the balls [probably next Wed] and then onto the weaving. I told Marian that if she thought the spinning was therapeudic, wait until she weaves.
My hands were brown for a day and the top I wore still has brown patches after a hot water wash.

It really is quite weird how fast one can travel from hot to cold. I sometimes wonder if the other reality does exist if I don't see it. From here to there is much more than just space. It is a different world, and yet they have the same hopes and deams that we have. The minister on sunday talked about how we don't grieve or celebrate our whole village's life anymore. How can we? It would be just too, too much. Cheers!

We went- we shopped- we went to the show. We used a coupon that was good for around $30 worth of movie and treats. Thank you Thank you!!
We viewed the Casino Royale. Very interesting. I only covered my eyes once or twice. I of course would have ended it when they were on the boat sailing happily away after he had resigned. It was fascinating. I would like to read the book to decipher what actually happened.
Church was inspirational today great music and some kind words. A card from Debbie Piper to the choir thanking us for the music at the Cantata and all year was nice.
The book was sold out at Chinook Chapters [I bought another one by Weibe.] The lantern was not at the Source -[I bought a CD and record player instead]
We found Lee Valley and I bought the walking stick with the money Vera had given me for my birthday.
All's well that ends well!!

It was a wonderful time in the North!! From finger paint to Tea with the ladies to hugs and kisses a treasure to be remembered.
I am still not sleeping- too many barometric pressure changes here.
I lunched with the Sandra and Mugs today at the curling rink and saw some geriatric first steps from Jean Salt after spending a year in bed or a wheel chair and a hip operation. God's many miracles are all around us.
The Cantata went. Some parts sounded better than others but we did get a standing O and you can't beat that. I am going to push for singing the "I believe " piece again in church.
Shopping is the order of the day tomorrow.Calgary is the destination. I washed the car, I hope that means no rain snow or sleet.
Many happy holiday experiences to one and all.

Well we played and played yesterday.Three curling games in one day but no cigar. We beat a top notch team that isn't in the Seniors league but when it came to beating Glenn and Dennis we fell short. I didn't exactly cover myself with glory so therefore have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth today. However this way I can wash the clothes and get ready for departure instead of curling.

The ever ending quest to lose weight has not been very successful lately. I have nil will power when it comes to eating out. Everything looks good. It is beyond my power to stop and think!! We logged only our second curling win of the season today. I think we have a good team but even today with a 9-2 lead they came back with 2 in two ends and needed only three to tie. Fortunately their skip choked and threw light. That is something that I am very good at myself.
House cleaning [ at home] is going slowly but we did set out a great pile of Thrift today which hopefully will move to another destination on Thursday.

Southern Mini I would say that it was a man who invented the new and improved frigs. Before we could pull the thing out from the wall and vacuum or wash down the coils while standing on your own two feet. Now we must crawl on our bellies and attempt to re-arrange the dust while not pocking anything too far which will bend the fan( voice of experience on bending).

So why do I root for football teams that raise up my hopes to dash them on the rocks. i feel sorry for Henry Burris and his troubles in playoff games but I guess it is only results that count.
However the people from Kentucky who were booted out of the amazing race tonight also had a point in saying that they would have liked to win of course but the ride opened up their life and they will never be the same. Their friends and competitors said they has so many firsts in this race and I can believe it. We are guessing that they may have never been out of Kentucky or ridden on a plane. Maybe it isn't whether we win or lose but that we ran.

No free ride this time!!

Southern Mini She said that size will be an afro so I took her word for it went down one size and I still have plenty of curl. At least people comment on your hair when it goes from straight stringy to fuzz.
The weather should make my hair curly-- moist and moist.
The bandits won even though they gave the other team a 1-4 head start. The goalie stopped a penalty shot and several other good chances after he did his little wander and said-- here you want a goal.
Going for tea with the ladies today. This is the free ride - pay and be waited on.

Birthday in the mountains

The scenery was fantastic and the air fresh and clean. The trees had lost there color except for a bright yellow dot here and there like someone was trying to clean out their paint brush by flicking it and the yellow paint was spattering amongst the green.
We climbed the everest practice hill and from there you can see the mountains and their glaciers to the west and glimpses of the lower lake thru the trees. The upper lake had some white caps way down there but we were in the calm at the top of the rock in the trees.
The wild life stayed away but so did the tourists. A man from Calgary said we finally have our Park back!! The sky was marvelous with its' mares' tails and blue,blue,blue. A great way to spend a birthday.

UCW meeting today. I vowed not to talk so much but I would never have made a nun. It seems like we are walking in glue but it is probably because I am not in control as much as in the past. I must let others dooooo! Heard that Shelia is trying to sell her house and move to Sask. That would be the loss of a great worker. Best go and watch the steak.

Thanks to a certain angel the blog is now unblogged or would that be unplugged? We curled this afternoon with what was described as a stacked team and were beaten I believe the final story would be 12 to3. Hmmmm!

Thanksgiving

Just spent the Thanksgiving Day weekend at Dinosaur Prov. Park. The wind was cold at first but then the sun came out and the weather was fabulous. The Dinosaurs were in a good mood so no prowling at night. The coyotes were fiesty but off in the wide blue yonder. The moon was fantastic and the stars were out!!
The dinner was spare ribs and dim sum for supper with an apple strudel thrown in for good eating.
The bedclothes were frigid but they warmed nicely, and the new heater kept things warm in the evening and got them warm again in the morning.

I went into the garden this morning and pulled the tomatoes and made the garden compost heap larger. The plum tree has beautful red and green leaves as it slips into winter. The radio said it was snowing but there are some breaks in the clouds here.
